LIEDE WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT

Liede, a sub-district of the Tianhe District of Guangzhou, China, serves as a major port and transportation hub for over 1.5 million people.  In 2007, Liede Village underwent a major reconstruction, replacing the village site with new residential and commercial buildings.  Liede is now a central metropolitan area to the city of Guangzhou.

A key component of this pioneering rebirth of the city is the Liede Wastewater Treatment Plant, which is currently Guangzhou's second largest scale WWTP.  The plant finished construction and was fully operational by November 2006, with an average daily treatment capacity of 200,000 tons, and a total treatment capacity of 6400,000 tons/day.  The project was financed by the World Bank.

The project utilizes modified A2/O (anoxia/anaerobic/benign oxygen) technology - which allows the standard of the outlet water to exceed the B criteria of the national A-level.  The plant also leads the country in technical innovations and renovations, R&D of the equipment management software and long-distance communication systems between pumping stations, with an emphasis on sealed deodorization technology.  Merit Technologies provided pumps, single stage centrifugal blowers, sludge scrapers, chlorine, mixer and control systems, as well as providing related technical services.
